SNG Certified Accessible Travel Advocate

Tasha Recommends:It makes no difference to Disney whether you are a person with disabilities or special needs, Disney only cares in what you require to make your Disney experience magical.

Travel is challenging even if you have no disability or impairment, no one can guarantee that your vacation will be the kind we all hope for, but doing your homework will help prevent having the one we all fear.

Taking a vacation to Walt Disney World® Resort, Disneyland® Resort, or on a Disney Cruise Line® ship, is considered one of the classic trips for families with children. Families who are traveling with a person with disabilities or limitations will find that there are accommodations available that can make the trip memorable for the entire family.

What is the best time to visit Disney? As Disney creates new attractions, enhance existing ones, or build new cruise ships, careful consideration is given to providing appropriate access so that all Guests can enjoy the Disney experience. From handheld captioning, accessible-ride vehicles or sloped-entry swimming pools, Disney Imagineers and engineers challenge themselves to create as many accessible experiences everyone can enjoy. Having a disability or limitation is no barrier to enjoy the magic of Disney.

With more places to go, more things to see and more characters to meet, there's never been a better time to make the dream come true.  Discover a world of magical entertainment and family fun that knows no boundaries. Choose from imaginative resorts, parks, ships and entertainment, explore endless world-class shopping, dining and recreation.

Tasha Recommends: What happens if your child goes missing at the Magic Kingdom? Does your child have an ID bracelet? Does his backpack have an ID tag with your cell number so the grandma who finds him can call you? Do you have a current ID for your child with photo, description, and thumbprint to give to authorities that are helping you look? Is your child protected?

If your child were to become missing do you have photo, description, fingerprints, and DNA sample. We collect these things as insurance, praying we never need them.

As parents it is important that we do everything we can to protect our children. Safety ID's on car seats, back packs, and in your wallet are one way we can help to keep our kids safe. Our pediatrician says, "I wish every child in every car seat had one of these."

Tasha Recommends: Be sure you keep your valuables safe at all times. Remember, like everywhere in our world, crime happens.

Tasha Recommends: If you are travelling by car and have a disability placard, bring it with you so you can park in the handicap lot.

Tasha recommends Autism on the SeasTasha Recommends:Disney now has over 500 cardiac defibrillators at Disneyland® Resort, Walt Disney World® Resort and the Disney Cruise Line®.

Tasha Recommends:Disney does not allow pets of any kind into any of the Theme Parks, Water Parks, Transportation Buses, Resort and Cruise ships with the sole exception of trained service animals.  In some cases your service animal will need to meet Disney and international requirements and limitations.

Service animals are medical aids or working dogs, they are not pets.  Please, always ask the handlers/owners for permission before you try to approach the service dog. Don't be offended if the handler/owner says no, the service animal is working and needs to be able to concentrate on the needs of the handler/owner.  Disney welcomes Autism Service Dogs!

Tasha Recommends:On your very first entry into the Parks, Resorts or cruise ship, make it a priority to stop by the Guest Relations desk, be sure to pick up the "Information For Guest With Disabilities Guidebook"  it will provide you with lots of useful information.  By talking to the Cast Member, they may find ways to help you get the most out of your Disney experience.

Tasha Recommends:Guests may need to transfer from their wheelchairs to utilize the attraction, this transfer may require the assistance of a member of your party. I recommend that you plan to visit or sail with someone who can physically assist you when necessary.  Cast Members are never allowed to assist with Guests transfers!

Tasha Recommends:Consider using ride swaps when a person with disabilities is not able to access attraction, ask at Guest Relations as to how this works.  In addition, use FASTPASS® wherever possible.
